We were at the .2 of the 26.2 miles of the 2019 Chicago Marathon. Jamie and I had trained together but she had a little more oomph left in her than I did. (I blame the biofreeze, it seemed to make her invincible!)
I looked at her and told her to go ahead. We were almost there and I knew we both just wanted to cross that finish line as quickly as possible. As soon as Jamie pushed ahead there was a man next to me who said, “you need to finish with her, LET’S GO!”
We ran. I took every ounce of energy and sprinted with him to catch up to Jamie. I have no idea who this man was but I am so appreciative of that bit of motivation to get me to the end and finish with Jamie.
